Our meeting with the DTI and the Philippine Embassy: an important step for Taste Filipino

Alongside our visit to the World Coffee Expo, we recently had a valuable meeting with the DTI (Department of Trade and Industry) and the Philippine Embassy. The aim of this meeting was to get to know our contact person and to gather more information about the next steps for Taste Filipino.

For us, this is an important phase. Taste Filipino grew out of a clear mission: to make Filipino flavours accessible to the Netherlands and Europe. In doing so, we look not only at great products, but also at quality, regulations, import processes and sustainable collaboration with partners in the Philippines.

From Filipino origins to the European market

Ube is one of the products we are focusing on strongly. Demand for ube powder in the Netherlands is growing, especially among coffee shops, bakeries, dessert bars and food creators who want to offer something new. At the same time, we want to do this the right way: professionally, transparently and following the correct steps.

During our meeting, we gained more insight into what is needed to bring Filipino products, such as ube powder, properly to the Netherlands and Europe. This includes product documentation, quality requirements, export information and the collaboration between producers, authorities and European importers.

Why this step matters

For Taste Filipino, it is not only about selling ube powder. We want to build a bridge between Filipino producers and European businesses looking for authentic, high-quality and distinctive ingredients.

By staying in contact early on with parties such as the DTI and the Philippine Embassy, we make sure we lay the right foundation. That way, we will soon be able to offer our products with confidence to businesses in the Netherlands and the rest of Europe.

Our ambition is clear: Taste Filipino wants to grow into a reliable supplier of Filipino flavours, with ube powder as one of our first focus products. From ube lattes to pastries and desserts: we believe ube can earn a permanent place within the European food and coffee market.

The meeting with the DTI and the Philippine Embassy was therefore an important step forward. We continue to build our supply chain, product information and B2B approach, so that we can soon share even more about our products and availability.
