Our first samples are going out: after months of research, ready for B2B customers

The moment is here. After months of research, preparation and a great deal of tasting, we are finally ready to send out our first samples to B2B customers. For Taste Filipino, this is a moment we have been working towards for a long time.

What began as an idea to bring Filipino flavours to the Netherlands and Europe has grown into a concrete product that coffee shops, bakeries, dessert bars and foodservice businesses will soon be able to taste for themselves.

There was a lot involved

Behind this milestone lies an intensive journey. We dug deep into certification and quality requirements, so that our ube powder meets the rules for the Dutch and European market.

We also had valuable conversations with the DTI and the Philippine Embassy about imports, documentation and the right steps to bring Filipino products to Europe in a professional way.

We spoke with a great many suppliers, but just as important was finding the right partners: people who share our standards of quality, reliability and way of working.

And of course we tasted. A lot. From colour and texture to flavour and how well it dissolves: we kept testing until we were happy with the result.

Setting up the company itself was part of it too, from administration and logistics to packaging and presentation. In short: there was an enormous amount involved. But we made it!

What is in our samples?

Our first samples centre on ube powder, made from purple yam. It is 100% pure and available in several variants: very fine for lattes, slightly coarser for baking, and an extract for extra ube flavour and colour.

This way, businesses can discover for themselves how ube fits into their own menu and concept, before ordering larger quantities.
